Basically a cat with a dominance issue always feels that it is in control and if a confrontation occurs the dominant cat will stand tall over the submissive cat who cowers. When the cat encounters this device it tries to dominate it just like it does everything else, but when the cat device's neck grows, the once dominant cat is always put into a place of submission. As this gets repeated the dominant cat becomes more docile over time and can eventually learn to get along with his fellows instead of always trying to dominate them.
