we are looking for a candidate combining high performance computing with modelling of 4D spectroscopy data. The candidate would work with Prof. Christian Rüegg and myself at the Laboratory for Neutron Scattering and Imaging, Paul Scherrer Institut (
https://www.psi.ch/lns/) and with Prof. Thomas Schulthess at the Swiss National Supercomputing Center (
http://www.cscs.ch). Specifically, we plan to make the SpinW code (
https://www.psi.ch/spinw/) fit for modelling large datasets including resolution corrections etc from neutron and x-ray spectrometers. We may also want to combine this with more intelligent approaches (machine learning) to search and model experimental (big) data.
Funding is via an institutional Marie-Curie grant (PSI Fellow) and NCCR Marvel. Criteria are therefore restrictive:
https://www.psi.ch/psi-fellow/eligibility-criteria
(no more than one year in Switzerland during the past 3 years). More details can be found on the same webpage.
Deadline for the candidate to submit proposal: 20th December 2016
Recruitment date: 1st April 2017 or later.
If you know a suitable candidate, please forward and ask him/her to contact us. Strong coding skills are required.
Best wishes,
Sándor
